Transitioning Youth

Superior wants to make sure that if you’re aging out of foster care you can still get great healthcare. That’s why STAR Health members can still get the same benefits and services from Superior after turning 18. As long as you still live in Texas, these services will continue until your 21st birthday. Plus, you’ll be able to participate in the adolescent 2 Adult (a2A) program, which offers rewards dollars for completing health checkups.

One of the main differences you should know about is that you will be your own Medical Consenter. That means Superior will work with you to meet your healthcare needs instead of contacting a Caregiver or Caseworker.

If you have any questions about aging out of foster care, call STAR Health Member Services at 1-866-912-6283. You can also reach out to a Transition Specialist. Superior is here to help you get well and stay well.
