Support and Resources for Caregivers

Date: 10/28/25

Being a caregiver can be rewarding but also overwhelming or challenging. Superior HealthPlan has gathered a few tips and resources that can help you care for your loved one while also taking care of yourself.

Helpful tips:

  1. Plan ahead. Talk to your loved one’s doctor and the other people in their life and make a plan for care and set expectations.
  2. Get enough sleep. Your physical and mental health are affected by lack of sleep. Make sure you give yourself at least 7 hours of sleep per night.
  3. Don’t be afraid to ask for help. If you have other family members or friends who have offered to help, take them up on it. Caregiving is hard to do alone – so ask if someone care share responsibilities.
  4. Get plenty of exercise. This gives you a break from caregiving duties and helps you relieve stress.

Other resources:

  • Superior Care Management or Service Coordination. Get in contact with your loved one’s Care Manager or Service Coordinator if they have a change in condition, a new injury, changes in their living environment or if you need help finding them a new provider.
  • Careopolis and Kiddopolis*. CHIP, STAR, STAR Kids and STAR+PLUS members have access to private online caring communities where they can share their experience with pregnancy, chronic illness, aging or healing journey.
  • Call Superior’s 24/7 nurse advice line at the number on the back of the Superior member ID card. They can help with general health questions or help you decide if your loved one needs to see their doctor or visit an emergency room.
