Opioid Toolkit: Naloxone Resources

Date: 09/25/20

Providers play a pivotal role in stemming the record number of overdose deaths and getting treatment for our members. This toolkit is designed to assist providers, as well as their staff and administrators, to effectively treat patients with an opioid addiction.

As a reminder, Superior, in partnership with physicians, nurses and therapists, developed an Opioid Toolkit to share best practice intervention strategies and treatments for patients struggling with addiction.

Within the toolkit, Superior provides resources and information on Naloxone, which is an effective medication designed to rapidly reverse opioid overdose. Tools and resources include a prescription checklist, patient guides and information on Operation Naloxone,  a detailed program on the appropriateness of using this rescue medication. There is also a Naloxone medication checklist. We hope that these tools can be used to provide the best care possible.

This free resource also includes, but is not limited to, summary guidelines, prescribing agreements, assessment and tapering tools.
