New Therapy Program Makes it Easier to Get Your Therapy Services.

Superior HealthPlan is excited to bring you a new program that will make it easier to get your/your child’s therapy services. Effective March 1, 2018, Superior HealthPlan will use Care Options for Kids as the dedicated provider for therapy evaluations and the preferred provider for therapy treatment for Superior STAR, STAR Health, STAR+PLUS and CHIP members who are:

  • 3 years of age and older (including adults)
  • Assigned to the Travis or Central Service Delivery Area

Care Options for Kids provides physical, speech and occupational therapy services for children and adults. If you/your child use Care Options for Kids as your provider for therapy treatment, you will be able to get medically necessary therapy services without a prior authorization from Superior. This means your doctor can simply refer you/your child directly to Care Options for Kids without turning in any paperwork. This process makes it easier for you and your doctor.

If you/your child currently use a different provider for therapy services, you can use them until February 28, 2018, or until your authorization runs out (whichever is later). All evaluations and re-evaluations will be performed by Care Options for Kids. If you are re-evaluated and approved to receive more therapy services, you may choose Care Options for Kids for your therapy treatment without receiving a prior authorization. You can also opt out of using Care Options for Kids for your therapy treatment for any reason and choose to receive therapy treatment from another provider in the Superior network. You can also opt out by writing to us at Superior HealthPlan, Attention Member Services, 5900 E. Ben White Blvd, Austin, TX 78741. If you choose another provider, your treatment services will require a prior authorization.

Superior will work with you to make sure you/your child gets the therapy services you need. If you would like to transfer your/your child’s therapy services to Care Options for Kids now, or if you have questions about this change, please call Superior Member Services.
