Superior wants to help you be prepared by knowing the best place to go based on you or your child’s medical needs. Consider all the options when choosing where to go for medical care. If you are not experiencing an emergency health issue, try another alternative to the emergency room (ER).
Read through the options below to help you decide where to go for care based on your medical needs.
- Primary Care Provider (PCP): Contact your PCP to schedule a visit if immediate medical care isn’t needed. Some PCP offices have evening and weekend hours available.
- 24/7 Nurse Advice Line: Call our free 24/7 nurse advice line at 1-866-912-6283. A medical professional can answer health questions and help set up doctor appointments. They can also help you consider all of your options when choosing where to go for care.
- Telehealth: Superior offers telehealth at no cost to you. Telehealth is available 24/7 for non-emergency health issues like skin problems, sinus infections or cold and flu symptoms. You can get medical advice, diagnosis or prescription all by using your mobile device. Learn more about STAR Health telehealth.
- Urgent Care: If your PCP’s office is closed, you can go to an urgent care center if your illness or injury is not life-threatening. Visit an in-network care center to avoid out-of-pocket costs. Use our Find a Provider tool to access an in-network provider near you.
- Turning Point Programs: These programs offer crisis support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for emergency assessment and crisis intervention to help support families avoid behavioral health ER visits and inpatient admissions.
- 24/7 Behavioral Health Crisis Line: Call 1-866-912-6283, press * (star) if you are having a behavioral health emergency and need assistance from a licensed mental health professional.
- Your Psychiatrist: Your psychiatrist is your primary behavioral health doctor. See your psychiatrist* if you have changes in mood that last more than 3 days, have changes in sleep pattern or need medication refills.
- ER: Visit an ER when immediate medical attention is needed. Call 911 or go to an ER if you experience issues like shortness of breath, chest pain, poisoning, severe cuts, burns or bleeding that will not stop.
