Changes to Employment Assistance and Supportive Employment Codes

Date: 10/01/16

The Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) has announced that effective November 1, 2016, there will be a change to the STAR+PLUS LTSS billing matrix to realign the codes for Employment Assistance and Supportive Employment. There will be no change to the rate, unit or service description. Only the code will change.

Currently, Employment Assistance is billed as H2023, while Supportive Employment is billed as H2025.  Effective November, 1, 2016, these codes will be reversed so that Employment Assistance will be billed as H2025 and Supportive Employment will be billed as H2023.

Existing authorizations will continue under the same authorization number for the same dates of service and number of units already authorized. Providers will not need a new authorization or a new authorization letter. Claims will continue to pay correctly, provided the new codes are used as indicated above. No action is needed from providers other than to begin billing with the new codes beginning November 1, 2016.
