Caregiver Support to Help Children Affected by Trauma

Date: 04/09/26

In partnership with Centene and the Association for Training on Trauma and Attachment in Children (ATTACh), Superior is proud to offer additional support to caregivers struggling with the challenges of parenting children with high needs. ATTACh is dedicated to promoting awareness of trauma and attachment disorders in children and teens. ATTACh provides support and tools for caregivers and professionals to help them heal.

Often these children and youth are at risk of disruption from their foster or adoptive placement. While research shows the positive impact of connecting foster parents with foster and adoptive parent peers, limited opportunities exist for:

  • Training
  • Support
  • Peer connection

ATTACh provides peer support by caregivers who are trained in trauma-informed care. They have experience in fostering and/or adopting children through the child welfare system.

Centene works with ATTACh to provide:

  • Trauma-Informed Training: Specialized training and support for foster caregivers.
  • Support for Families: Parent scholarships to assist families with limited financial resources.

ATTACh’s expert-led support calls for parents and caregivers of children with attachment and trauma challenges are a helpful resource that offer many benefits. Some of these benefits include:

  1. Easy support group connection. Caregivers can join online with a computer or their smart device. They can receive support from other caregivers while in their home, on the go, or whatever location is convenient for them.
  2. Safe and caring space to share experiences. Caregivers can share struggles and successes with others facing similar issues.
