You need to take your child’s Superior ID card, 2085 Form and your child’s Medicaid Form 3087

Will I get an ID card for my Foster Child?

ID cards come in the New Member Welcome Packet that is mailed to the child’s caregiver. The packet also includes a Welcome Letter, your Member Handbook, Provider Directory and Texas Health Steps information.

Where do I get my prescriptions filled?

All prescriptions you get from your child’s doctor can be filled at any pharmacy that takes your Medicaid form. If you need help finding a pharmacy, call Member Services at (866) 912-6283. Remember to always take your Superior ID and your Medicaid form with you.

How do I get eye care services?

Your foster child can get an eye exam once a year (more if their eyesight changes a lot). Your foster child can also get glasses once every two years (more if their eye sight changes a lot). Glasses can be replaced if they are lost or broken. Foster care children are eligible for eye care services up to the age of 21. Call (866)642-8959 for help in finding an eye care provider.

What are Texas Health Steps checkups?

Texas Health Steps is a program that provides regular medical, dental and vision checkups. It also provides shots to members through the age of 20. The checkups are very important. Texas Health Steps will help you know if your child is doing well and how to keep them healthy.

How do I find a Texas Health Steps provider?

You can make an appointment with any Superior provider that does Texas Health Steps checkups. Texas Health Steps providers are indicated in the provider directory. You can call Member Services at (866) 912-6283 if you need help finding a Texas Health Steps provider or need help making an appointment.

How do I find a Dentist?

Your child should get regular checkups to make sure his or her teeth and gums are healthy. Dental checks need to be done every six months starting at age six months. Call Member Services at (866) 912-6283 to get the name of a dentist closest to you or call StarDent at (866) 483-5708.

What can Member Services Help with?

Member Services can make Primary Care Physician changes, send you replacement ID cards, and help explain benefits. They can also help make appointments for your child. Member Services can also refer you to other staff that can help with community resources. Call us at (866) 912-6283 for help.

Remember: Only the Medical Consenter can choose or change a child’s Primary Care Physician.

How do I know if my child needs Behavioral Health Services?

Children often do not tell people about their feelings, but they can show symptoms that might mean help is needed. IMHS can help you find someone for you or your child to talk to.

How do I get Help?

You can call IMHS directly at (866) 218-8263. IMHS has many providers and programs to help you. They can help schedule an appointment for you or your child.

What if my child has a behavioral health emergency?

If you are having an emergency, you should call 911 or go to a crisis center or the nearest emergency room.

What if my child is already getting help?

If your foster child is already getting behavioral health care, ask your provider if he or she is in the IMHS network. If the answer is yes, you do not need to do anything. If the answer is no, call (866) 218-8263. IMHS will ask your provider if they would like to join our network. We want you to keep getting the care you need.
